Last Chance to See Exhibition at CUA!

In Dialogue with the Elders, sculpture by Greg Metcalf and paintings by Champneys Taylor at Salve Regina Gallery, Catholic University, runs through March 2nd. If you have not seen this show yet, I highly recommend that you check it out! The show was curated by Phoebe Esmon, who writes: "The works of Greg Metcalf and Champneys Taylor that were chosen for this exhibition embody two unique but contiguous perceptions of art history and its relationship to working in the studio. Uniting these works is the fact that each artist is engaged in a dialogue with particular figures from art history-the "Elders" of the exhibitions title. Each artist invokes and thus engages with the creative forces that inform the artist's own art-historical movement, and this dialogic process both forms and informs the artist's work. While Metcalf overtly invokes the cultural figures that have interested and excited him, Taylor's references are more metaphorical, and often so subtle as to be subliminal." The show was reviewed in last week's Washington Post, Galleries section.
