Gateway’s Heliport Gallery, a launch pad for the arts and community, in collaboration with Pyramid Atlantic and with the generous support of the Carl M. Freeman foundation is proud to announce its second exhibit Telling Their Stories. Telling Their Stories brought together 12 local artists from various artistic backgrounds at Pyramid Atlantic for a series of workshops, where they explored and interpreted their identity and the myriad of ways in which it can be conveyed. The show provides a unique opportunity to personally connect with the featured artists, as it features the results of their introspective and exploratory journey. The exhibit also provides an opportunity for YOU to tell your story in the participatory art section. Exhibiting artist John Beckley (4th generation Washingtonian!) will share his story at 8:15pm. The show closes on the 9th. Celebrate the closing with us on the 8th!

Mekbib Gebertsadik and Meseret Dasta came to the United States from Ethiopia in 2001. Their art is concerned with the life in their homeland, as well as understanding the reality of the cosmos by means of painting. They demonstrate this to society and, above all, the artwork carries on history, culture, daily life, and nature¹s geographical configuration from generation to generation.
