Russian Paintings

Exhibition of Russian Paintings at Smithsonian International Gallery

Yesterday I went to see "In the Russian Tradition", a historic collection of 20th century Russian paintings at the Smithsonian's International Gallery. It is fantastic! For all of my fellow painters and appreciates of the grand tradition of oil painting...you need to go and see this show! With a wide range of styles and genres, there is enough thick, juicy paint, georgeous surfaces and soft, lusciuos light to please just about anybody who is into painting. YUMMY!!

Canal Street Galleries

On Friday evening I attended MOCA and the other galleries at 1054 Canal Square in Georgetown for their third Friday openings. MOCA has their Erotica 2005 show continuing and there were some great photographs at Fraser Gallery by Lida Moser. Other galleries in Canal square include Anne C. Fisher Gallery and Parish Gallery.

Wearin' O the Green, Tapas and Red Stripe, Mon!

An Eclectic St. Patty's Day
Just thought I'd share my St. Patrick's Day antics: On this fine Irish holiday, I ended up wearing my green, indulging in cool beverages and dancing with some friends; you know, pretty standard. There was no corn beef and cabbage for us, however! We ended up in all of our Irish green, eating tapas (empanadas to be more specific), listening to latin/ salsa music and drinking Jamaican beer. Hmmmm....that's why ya gotta love hanging out in the city!

Paint and Papers

Grad School Blues

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a few days. I have been busy painting, paper writing and helping out with Catholic U's Juried Student Art Exhibition, which runs through March 23rd at Salve Regina Gallery. The juror was Micheal Clark, artist and co-director of MOCA DC.
Below is work from the exhibition by CUA students Erin Hunter and James Patrick O'Donnell.

Technologically Challenged

Since I am still trying to figure out how the heck to list links of other blogs on my sidebar like all those more competent bloggers, I've decided to put some here for now. Here are other art-related blogs worth browsing:

I'll add more when I figure out what the heck I am doing! I know...get it together, girl!

Northbound!

Shuffling Off to Buffalo

I'm heading out today to visit family for spring break and attend some art events in upstate New York(see the posting from Friday, Feb 25). I will be arriving in Buffalo-Niagara this afternoon. Brrrr....will be chilly!
I will have limited access to a computer, so there may not be any new postings until I return this Sunday.
I will be checking e-mail, though.
Happy hump Day!
