Silver Spring Arts Walk

ArtsWalk will provide attendees with the chance to meet and talk with local artists exhibiting at The Heliport and working at studios in our community.

When: Sunday, June 10th 2-4pm

Where: Starting at: Gateway's Heliport Gallery, 8001 Kennett St.
Listen to artists: Cristina Montejo, Ellen X. Silverberg, Dana Maier, Mary D. Ott, Julie Miller, Bernie Van Leer and Alfreda Southerland present their work.

Next: Brian Hewitt's Studio, 7981 Eastern Ave. unit C-8
Brian is currently getting his MFA in Scotland, so he can't physically join us. However, he will be joining us through a live video stream so that he can discuss his method, approach and work. Folks will also get a chance to see his studio.

Next: Steve Hanks' Studio and Gallery, 7981 Eastern Ave., unit C-11
Steve's watercolors and drawings range from realistic wildlife to abstract expressionism. He has shown professionally on the wildlife show circuit, exhibiting at the prestigious Easton Waterfowl Festival among other such shows on the east coast. He also does watercolor landscapes and cityscapes. Many of his abstracts are fantastic anatomical figure metaphors and cityscapes with additional drawn details that call for closer inspection. In his space, Steve has created a studio and gallery for his work.

Next: The Graphic Workshop, above Jackie's on Sligo Ave.
Pauline Jakobsberg and Terry Svat will have several examples of their work at the studio will do a couple print-making demonstrations. For example, Pauline will show how a drypoint is done on a simple piece of Plexiglas using an engraving tool. We will then use the press and create a piece of art.
